Passionate Volunteering
Pursue your passion with different volunteer organisations and leverage those experiences in your search for a career you love.
Relationships
Volunteering for a cause you love will provide you with the opportunity to understand and explore career possibilities within a field you’re passionate about and start developing the skills needed to work in that field. Plus, you’re helping others in your community while doing so! Another benefit of volunteering is it provides a great opportunity to meet like-minded people who are passionate about the same causes you are. By getting to know paid and volunteer staff, you’re expanding your professional network and nurturing more genuine connections than you would via LinkedIn or other social networks.

How to do it

You should choose an organisation that matches your values.

For example, if you’re passionate about protecting wildlife, you might consider volunteering for a wildlife protection organisation.

Or maybe you or someone in your family has been affected by an illness. You could volunteer for an organisation that supports research into finding a cure.

Or you can involve with an Environment clean up movement.

Do some online searches to find out about the types of organisations you can volunteer for.

Volunteering Australia is a national group that also lets you search a database of volunteer positions. Volunteering Australia also runs the GoVolunteer website

. SEEK Volunteer lists volunteer positions, and also includes information for volunteers.
